The Color Purple :)

Imperialism is when a stronger nations opresses a weaker one. The country or nation would try and take over another by territorial acquisition or even by using other tactics that have to do with there economoy or even politically. There are many movies that can be compared to imperialism but one that stands out the most to me would have to be the movie The Color Purple.
In the movie The Color Purple it mostly takes place in Georgia but there are scenes that take place in Africa that have to do with Nettie, Cellie's sister. In this part of the movie an African tribe is being destroyed by European imperialists. The Europeans wanted to gain control of that part of Africa.  This part of the movie relates to the concept because the Eauropean was trying to opress Africa which was the smaller nation and trying to take control over it. The europeans felt as if they had the strength to overpower them.
I have seen this movie many times and the situation relates perfectly to when other countries try to take power over another because they feel they are more powerful. Also, this may relate to when a ruler or someone wants to gain control over a country. For example, when Hitler tried to take over Europe. He felt as if he had more power and could control them. But as it turned out in the beginning he began to gain power but lost it once he made a false move. This goes to show that sometimes moves towards imperialism do not work out all the time to its best ability.

Video Game Violence !

If you ever played any video games that portray war or to be more specific, games such as Call of Duty that have lots of violence and shooting. Do you think you will go out to the real world and try these same things ? No I think that most people would have the common sense to know, what is right and what is wrong. I dont think that games that have events that occur in the war should be banned.
If that was the situation and video games would be banned because of the violence they diminish. Then things such as cigarettes should be banned because of the deaths that it causes amongst others. In the article that discusses the situation of how the video game Moderm Welfare is similiar to the actual war states,  that the game is just pure fiction on the blips of a screen. If it is pure fiction people should be able to distinguish the difference and know not to be violent and how to control themselves even when not playing the game. It also should be allowed because people should be able to see something similiar to what occurs during the war. They get to experience the feeling of not knowing what will occur next so they may get that terrified feeling of losing against their opponent like the soldiers actually do feel, except it is actually occuring to them. The difference is there isnt a reset button or something to let the soldiers know where their enemies are coming from but then again the game is just for the entertainment of others and for people to enjoy playing.

Ready ! Set ! DogFight !

During the Cold War the pilots would have to fight air to air combat. If I was the pilot flying that plane I would be saying my prayers and hoping for the best. My state of mind while flying the plane would be being invincible because then I would have the confidence to defeat the other pilots. While being in the air though I think the pilots would of been scared for their lives and would not know what to expect to happen because their opponents could be unpredictable. Since the pilots are trained some may not have that much of a fear to fight the other planes.

From Letters to Cell phones

Technology today is not what it used to be before. Imagine having to send a letter to one of your loved ones and having to wait weeks or even months for them to respond. Everyone now is so used to having things instantly. When you send a text message within a few seconds the other person receives it. If you want to call someone, you can talk to them within seconds and let them know about everything that is occuring. During the World War 1 many people would send their family members or even their husbands or wifes letters to see how everything was going and to inform them on information. If I was in this situation like in one of the letters written in World War 1 by a dad to his son Russell.  I would of been anxious and nervous to see how my family had been doing and wondering what was going on and if anything bad was happening to them. The dad that was in the war writing the letter was probably frustrated because he did not get a response soon enough because hee continued to write letters to his sons even though he did not receive a response.
